The parking areas are unpaved, so arrive early during peak seasons for the best spots closest to your preferred beach access point.

Elmer's Island itself has no facilities—no restrooms, food vendors, or accommodations. You'll need to head back across the bridge to Grand Isle, which offers several seafood restaurants, fishing camps, beach house rentals, and small motels. Popular dining options in Grand Isle include local Cajun seafood spots serving fresh catch. Bring all supplies, including water, snacks, and sun protection, as the nearest stores are in Grand Isle. Plan to pack out all trash, as there are no garbage facilities on the island.

Elmer's Island is a designated wildlife refuge known for exceptional birdwatching, especially during spring and fall migrations. You'll likely spot shorebirds, wading birds, pelicans, and various migratory species.
