The Charlestown Breachway splits Ninigret Pond from the Atlantic, and East Beach guards its eastern flank with a narrow ribbon of sand that refuses to cooperate with easy access. You park on the west side, walk across the breach, and earn your solitude—most beachgoers stop at the pavilion, leaving this stretch to the dedicated. The jetty creates a wedge that pulls in swell from the southeast, shaping rides that work on even modest swells when the rest of South County goes flat.
Wind ripples the beach grass on the dunes as you walk the tideline. Shells crunch underfoot—slipper shells, jingles, the occasional whelk.
