Imaihama Beach is excellent for both swimming and surfing, making it one of East Izu's most versatile beaches. The beach features consistent waves that attract surfers of various skill levels, particularly during appropriate swell conditions. Swimming areas are generally designated separately from surfing zones during peak season for safety. Lifeguards typically supervise during summer months. The sandy bottom and gradual depth make it family-friendly for swimming. However, wave conditions can change, so always check current conditions, observe flags and signs, and be aware of your swimming abilities before entering the water.

The optimal visiting period is from late June through September when weather is warmest and all facilities are operational. July and August offer peak swimming conditions with lifeguard supervision and full services. For surfing, spring and autumn often provide better wave conditions with fewer crowds. Early summer (June) and early autumn (September) balance good weather with reduced visitor numbers. Weekdays are less crowded than weekends throughout the season. Winter months can still attract dedicated surfers when swells arrive, though water temperatures require wetsuits and facilities may be limited.
